"For where two or three meet in my name,
I shall be there with them."

MATTHEW 18:20

In this midst of social distancing and isolation, sharing faith and hope with one another becomes even more important. As always, we are pleased to provide you with your monthly batch of Faith Circles for the four weeks of April 2021 spanning from the Easter Sunday (Year B) to 4th Sunday of Easter (Year B).

Many groups are temporarily meeting in their Faith Circles groups online. If you have not done this (or are unsure how) you might like to check out our Zoom Resource Guide. We have also created a new section on our diocesan website—Nourishing Our Faith which has links to many faith formation opportunities.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time and we keep our trust and hope in our Lord Jesus.

"Without the burden of afflictions it is impossible to reach the height of grace. The gift of grace increases as the struggle increases". St Rose of Lima

The Journey This Week – The Passion narrative, a symbol of our life; love, & mercy. A sombre story of graciousness & abandonment.

"don't run from it, sit with it, feel it,
embrace the price at which your life was purchased "

FR CHRIS SARKIS

This week on the Journey (Ep 399)

On the Journey this week: Mons Graham Schmitzer says Jesus' pierced heart symbolises the stream of the new temple flowing out into the entire cosmos with the invitation to "come to the water" to drink deeply of its grace. Mother Hilda asks how often have we called out: "my God, why have you abandoned me?" And  Fr Chris Sarkis says don't run from this week, sit with it, feel it, embrace the mourning, know the price at which your life was purchased. Plus, great music for Lent!

Visit www.jcr.org.au or www.itunes.jcr.org.au where you can listen anytime and subscribe to weekly shows by email. Got friends or family who you'd like to hear this show ever week? All you've got to do is send them this email and they can subscribe by clicking here.

Urgent: Choir needed Easter Vigil

Dear Parish Choir,

We have been allowed to sing for the Easter Vigil this year at St Johns.

There are two practices. They will be in the church on:

  • Tuesday 23 March 7.30pm to at least 8:30pm, but no later than 9pm,
  • Sunday 28 March (Palm Sunday):  7.30pm to at least 8:30pm, but no later than 9pm

There will also be a warm up and practice in the hall on the night of the vigil.

Ben Mackenzie will be playing the organ for the vigil and I will be standing in front of you flapping my arms and pretending to look important.

Please let me know if you can make the vigil and attend the practices.

Please also keep in your prayers Norma McNally who has been seriously unwell of late.

Thank you.

Kind Regards,

Peter N

Greeting from Parish Priest

Dear Friends,

There are few things that I would like to communicate with you

1- Our Diocese allowed us to resume our normal collections.  We know that there are 2 collections - 1st Collection for Priests and the 2nd Collection for our Parish Community.  We just created the collection bags with handle and we use these one for our collections.

2- Our Holy Father Pope Francis invites people to have 24 hours for the Lord from Friday evening 12 March to Saturday Evening 13 March.  Our Parish will expose the Blessed Sacrament after 9 am Mass tomorrow and finish with Vigil Mass.  We invite you to join the Catholics around the world to have 24 hours for the Lord.

3- Next weekend we will publish the dates for First Holy Communion, Confirmation and First Reconciliation and the Parents nights of each Sacrament.

4- Anyone has come back to Mass I invite you to go back to Mass especially we are in the Lenten Season to prepare for Easter celebration.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Yours in Christ,

Fr John Ho PP

"the best rection is silence"

PETE GILMORE

This week on the Journey (Ep 396)

On the Journey this week: Mons Graham Schmitzer says God's presence, once localized in the Temple sanctuary, now resides in the Body of Christ, us, and Lent is a time to restore our temple. Mother Hilda says Jesus' zeal for the father's house is zeal for us, our welfare & ultimate happiness, and Pete Gilmore says silence lets us absorb the wholeness of our relationship with Jesus. Plus, Sr Therese Mills and Darren McDowell, and great music for Lent!

Visit www.jcr.org.au or www.itunes.jcr.org.au where you can listen anytime and subscribe to weekly shows by email. Got friends or family who you'd like to hear this show ever week? All you've got to do is send them this email and they can subscribe by clicking here.
