Invitation - Renewing Parishes for Mission - Reflecting on Pope Francis' Latest Instruction
There is an ancient proverb that invites us to see 'crises as opportunities'. Indeed, we are in such a situation today as we draw towards the end of what has been an amazingly tumultuous, dis-orientating and thought provoking year.
Pope Francis, in understanding the opportunities of this season, invites us and our parish communities to re-focus, re-orient, and re-claim our fundamental mission and purpose as Church. The title of his recently released instruction says it all: "The Pastoral Conversion of the Parish Community in the Service of the Evangelising Mission of the Church". Given all that is currently happening there has never been a more important time to reflect upon these issues. Indeed, these times give us new opportunities to change things up and create new habits and practices that will lead to evangelisation and mission.
Bishop Brian is inviting all the clergy, along with Parish Pastoral Councils and Parish Leadership Teams to spend time reflecting upon and seeking ways in which this document can be put into action within our Diocese. Indeed, all ministry coordinators and leaders are welcome to join in these gatherings as they too will find much insight and inspiration from their content and reflection.
You are invited to participate in one of four, 3 part option sets, which will reflect upon key elements of this document. These timeslot options are:
·Option Set 2: Thursday afternoons, 22nd & 29th October & 5th November, 4pm-5:15pm
·Option Set 3: Monday afternoons, 26th October & 2nd & 9th November, 4pm-5:15pm
·Option Set 4: Tuesday evenings, 27th October & 3rd & 10th November, 7:30-8:45pm
Whilst you might like to register for one set, you are more than welcome to jump onto one of the other dates if your time and circumstances change.
Over the course of the three session we will reflect upon the following key elements of the document:
·The Vision and Mission of the Parish Community
·Our Individual Call to Holiness and Mission
·Renewing our Parish Structures for Mission
