Creating Successful Ministries - Following Jesus' Example

Dear Friends,

Thanks for all you do in supporting and coordinating a ministry or ministries within your parish community.

As we know, the way we do church is changing. With the ramifications of Covid-19, along with our broader society and culture changes, the way in which we guide and support those in ministry is becoming a new and different prospect from what we’ve known in past decades.  How will we meet the challenges we face moving into the future?

It is for this reason that I would like to extend a special invitation to you to participate in the following opportunity, focusing upon the way we inspire, empower and equip those whom we serve as coordinators or ministry leaders.

This short course has been run a number of times now with various groups with participants finding:

·         Renewed and deeper relationship with Jesus

·         Greater awareness and understanding of how to follow Jesus' example in supporting and guiding those in ministry

·         A valuable space to share their story and experience of guiding ministries

·         Improvement in how they support ministries.

The short course is as follows:

Creating Successful Ministries - Following Jesus' Example

Vibrant and successful ministries don’t just happen - they need care and attention. In this 6 part series we’ll look at the principles and practices that Jesus followed in inspiring, empowering and equipping his disciples for mission and ministry. Following Jesus’ example we’ll discover some of the ways in which we can better support our parishes and ministries.

Dates & Times:

·         Every 2nd Thursday - 6th August - 29th October, 7:30pm-9pm

·         Every 2nd Friday - 5th August - 30th October, 9:30am-11am

(Excluding school holidays)

Resource:

Please know this series uses the resource called Lead Like Jesus Revisited by Ken Blanchard, Phil Hodges and Phyllis Hendry which you will need to acquire either in book or e-book format. This book has a white cover with maroon writing.

The book / e-book can be acquired from the following suppliers:

·         Koorong Books - Book / e-book

·         Amazon - Book / e-book

Hope you can join us,

Darren

FAITH CIRCLES August 2020 | Download Now!

"For where two or three meet in my name,
I shall be there with them."

MATTHEW 18:20

In this midst of physical distancing and isolation, sharing faith and hope with one another becomes even more important. As always, we are pleased to provide you with your monthly batch of Faith Circles for the five weeks of August 2020 spanning from the 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year A) to the 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year A),

Many groups are temporarily meeting in their Faith Circles groups online. If you have not done this (or are unsure how) you might like to check out our Zoom Resource Guide. We have also created a new section on our diocesan website—Nourishing Our Faith which has links to many faith formation opportunities.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time and we keep our trust and hope in the risen Lord Jesus.

Grant me, O Lord my God, a mind to know you, a heart to seek you, wisdom to find you, conduct pleasing to you, faithful perseverance in waiting for you, and a hope of finally embracing you. Amen.  —St Thomas Aquinas

SCY News | From Doubt to Trust

SCY NEWS
July edition

FROM DOUBT TO TRUST
Are you someone who struggles with doubt when it comes to things about the Catholic faith?

"Doubting Thomas" has had this moniker attached to him for thousands of years because of his questioning of Jesus' resurrection in the Gospel of John (20). But to be fair, shouldn't we all be called Doubting Thomas? Doubting Chris, Doubting Elizabeth, Doubting Gelina? Like St. Thomas haven't we all doubted our Catholic beliefs at some point?

This is where faith is pivotal. Listen to last night's Live Formation Session with special guest speaker, soon-to-be-ordained Deacon Noel Custodio.
