Our HOPE Lenten Program Group has finished? Now what?

Faith Circles

Our HOPE Lenten Program Group has finished? Now what?

As Lent comes to an end next week, we pray that our HOPE Lenten Program has borne much fruit in your community.

We have been inundated over the past couple of weeks with people asking what they can do to continue their small group after Lent and even extend the group to those who don't regularly come to church but may welcome the opportunity to simply share their week with others and reflect upon how God may be at work in their lives. This is awesome!

Well, we have the perfect solution for you! Just over a year ago we began creating a weekly free small group resource called Faith Circles. It is a double-sided A4 sheet based on the Sunday Gospels with two reflections (including one by Pope Francis) as well as accompanying reflection questions and prayer points.

Think of Faith Circles like a shortened version of the Lenten Program. However, it is free, no strings attached. We just want Catholics to be nurtured by doing life and faith in groups, not on their own. You can print as many copies as you like!

Faith Circles is available to download via email subscription or on our website at faithcircles.dow.org.au. Click the website link to subscribe to the Faith Circles email list. It takes less than 30 seconds! We send out an email every month containing the downloadable resources for the upcoming month. Feel free to forward this email to everyone in your Lenten Group so that they can sign up too.

However, we thought you might be interested in downloading this month's resource now. We welcome the wisdom of Fr Mark De Battista who has provided the Gospel Reflections. Fr Mark has just returned to the Diocese of Wollongong after spending the past six years in Rome studying studying Sacred Scripture S.S.B at the Pontifical Biblical Institute and the Pontifical Biblical Commission and Biblical Theology S.T.L (Bib Theol) at the Pontifical Gregorian University. It is indeed an honour to have Fr Mark on board for Faith Circles especially as he is busily preparing to embark on his next appointment as Administrator of St Anthony's Parish in Picton-Tahmoor NSW.

We also are blessed in Faith Circles with the wonderful words of Pope Francis as well as insightful reflection questions written by our own Peter Gilmore.

WHAT IS FAITH CIRCLES ALL ABOUT?

We usually attend church in rows, often with limited interaction with our sisters and brothers in Christ. As the name suggests, Faith Circles aims to turn these rows into circles, bringing about:

  • A sense of belonging and sharing of life through the lens of faith
  • A growing knowledge of faith
  • Group and personal prayerfulness and encounter with the risen Lord
  • Growing confidence to share faith with others
  • A place to invite people who are not attending church but who want to grow in faith.

THREE'S A CROWD

We've all heard the saying three's a crowd. When Catholics come together in faith there is always an additional presence, as the Lord is true to his promise that, "For where two or three meet in my name, I shall be there with them." (Matthew 18:20) For this reason we are encouraging people to form Faith Circles in their church community.

HOW TO START AND RUN FAITH CIRCLES

We have recently published a great resource giving tips on how to start and run a Faith Circles small group in your community setting. Click here to download the resource.
