What's on in April?

Happy Easter! We hope and pray you are having a joyous and wonderful Easter, recognising the graces and blessings God is giving you as a result of your Lenten pilgrimage and journey.

Our program of faith and ministry workshops and training events begins in fuller swing this month with a wide variety of opportunities to learn and grow.  Whether through the Scriptures, liturgy, or sharing faith, there is something here for everyone in each region of the Diocese. 


Liturgical Ministry Training: Parish Lector Trainers & Coordinators (Train the Trainers)

 

SATURDAY 2 APRIL 2016
10am-4pm Xavier Conference Centre
(38 Harbour Street, Wollongong)

Parish Lector and Reader Coordinators please note! This special train the trainer course will equip you with the resources necessary to run effective reader training in your parishes. The day will step through the three essential modules of Liturgy Brisbane's Powerful Points training package for use with Readers and Lectors. It will cover techniques for peer reviews with lectors and readers to help build skills and eliminate common problems in effective proclamation of the Word at Mass and other liturgies. Jesus spoke in parables to reveal the nature of God as that of a Father who constantly reaches out to us in love and forgiveness.  Many of the parables Jesus told are familiar to us – the prodigal son, the lost coin etc. This evening provides us with an invitation to see these parables anew, recognising ourselves in them and exploring their meaning for our lives today.RSVP essential to helen.bennett@dow.org.au or 4222 2403 by Friday 1 April.


Church & World - Conflict or Merciful Embrace (Vatican II)

Pope Francis inspires us to look at the relationship between Church & World anew, though deeply rooted in the vision of Vatican II. This discussion evening is an invitation to explore this relationship, how do we "as Church" relate to the world and how are we called to make a difference, enabling the mercy of God to be made evident. Sharing Faith: Simple Steps

How do you share your faith with others? Would you like to grow more confident to share your faith in simple, non-threatening ways? This day of reflection is introductory and enable participants to realise and develop the truly simple and easy ways to share faith with family, friends and colleagues. Exploring the Gospel of Luke - Part 1

The gospel of Luke has often been called 'The Gospel of Mercy' and 'The Gospel of Hospitality'. In this two part series of discussion sessions we will unpack this gospel and its relevance for our lives today, especially in this Year of Mercy. In this first part we will explore the parables and resurrection stories. For Mercy's Sake: Refugee & Asylum Seeker Conference

The day will include stories from asylum seekers, conversations facilitated by Sydney Alliance, and workshops and an interactive panel with those involved in welcoming, supporting, housing and empowering new arrivals to participate in our parishes, schools and communities.
