ARISE - Lenten Program 2015 COMING SOON!

ARISE - Lenten Program 2015
Catholic Diocese of Wollongong

ARISE: Lenten Program 2015
Coming Soon!

Christmas greetings from the Diocese of Wollongong!

A big thank you to everyone for your support of our Daily Advent and Christmas Reflections Book, REDEEM. We hope that the reflections are bringing you closer to our loving God this Advent and Christmas.

We would normally wait until the New Year to begin advertising our upcoming Lenten Program for 2015 entitled ARISE. However, Lent begins early next year (18 February), so we thought it was a good idea to put it on your radar that we will be taking orders for ARISE in early January 2015.

ARISE: Lenten Program 2015, will be a 44-page weekly program published by the Diocese of Wollongong designed as a six-week Lenten resource for small groups, prayer companions, staff reflections, families and individuals containing Gospel Reflections by Sr Moya Hanlen OLSH (Chancellor of the Diocese of Wollongong and respected Canon Lawyer), and Spiritual Direction by Fr Michael Fallon MSC (world renowned Scripture Scholar) and Sr Hilda Scott OSB (Vocations Director, Jamberoo Abbey).

There will be an accompanying Triple CD Resource available for purchase (physical CD and digital downloads) containing professionally recorded weekly Responsorial Psalms written and performed by Tracey Coombes . Check out a sneek-peak of Tracey's beautiful Psalm for Week 4 of the program at the following link:

The CD Resource will also contain narrations of the Gospels by Jude Hennessy (Host of the "Journey Catholic Radio Show") and Gospel Reflections by Sr Moya, Spiritual Direction by Sr Hilda and Fr Michael , and back by popular demand, Guided Meditation led by Sr Hilda.

As in previous years, the whole is contained within the beautiful artwork of Nelson Colo Matoma who has painted six new watercolour expressionism artworks for the program.

Further information including a sample of the program and order forms will be emailed to you in early January. Thank you again for your support of our programs and may the birth of the Child Jesus bring peace to you and your loved ones this Christmas.

IP4P

My dear brothers and sisters,

Thanks to everyone who came to the peace prayer rally yesterday in Wollongong. It was a deeply moving and transforming experience for all present. Once again, I have already heard of the ripples of goodwill which have flowed from this initiative.

Thanks to everyone who participated and who continue to spread the word of our IP4P movement.

We continue to hold the victims and survivors of the Martin Place Siege in our prayers. As we do for the horrendous event in Pakistan of the massacre of the children and their teachers. We hold the murdered children in Cairns in prayer. There is so much need in our community to continue to pray for peace and to work for peace. There is still so much misunderstanding but, I believe we have made a lot of headway.

As Christians throughout the world now pause from the hectic commercialism of secular Christmas and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas that "God-is-with-us", we offer our Christmas prayers for the ongoing success of IP4P.

Thank you to one and all for the great energy invested in IP4P in the last quarter of 2014. We look forward to great things in 2015.

May God be praised in all our undertakings.

Fr Ron

TJHC Activity Report 2014

The Activity Report describes the work of the Council over the past two years  as it has driven the Church's reform agenda and led the Church in its response to the Royal Commission.

It records our engagement with the Royal Commission, our development of the Church's position in the public policy debate, our work with survivors and their representatives and our role as the public voice of the Church.

The report also records some of the key concerns and issues the Council has become increasingly aware of as it has gone about the business of connecting with the thousands of people who have been involved with and affected by the child sexual abuse crisis within the Church.

Using the information and understandings gathered over the past two years and reflected in this report, the Council will continue to develop the Church's reform agenda.

Both Bishop Tim Costello from Perth and Archbishop Anthony Fisher in Sydney have had opinion piece about the Report and its content published in their local metropolitan papers. Read their pieces here.

Keep the conversation going

Over the past two years the TJHC has drawn together a range of liturgical and communications material that has been used by different parish and other Catholic organisations to help start and keep the conversation going within Church institutions about our response to child sexual abuse.
The material includes programs from Parishes to help involve people in the discussion, special liturgical material, easy to print documents that can be left in the Church or published in local Catholic papers and other outlets, information on the activities of the Council and the Church's reform agenda.

Anything that is published on the TJHC website can be picked up and reproduced at any time without seeking permission.
