ENCOUNTER: Lenten Program - less than 800 copies left!

ENCOUNTER - Lenten Program 2014
Catholic Diocese of Wollongong

One week until Lent - books almost sold out!

Lent is just one week away and we have almost sold out of the  ENCOUNTER: Lenten Program 2014 books . We have less than 800 copies left so this is your last opportunity to order before they sell out.

Unfortunately, we have already sold out of the Triple CD Resource, however you can still download the audio files for free at www.lent.dow.org.au in order to make your own CD copies. If you are having trouble downloading the audio files and burning your own copies, please contact Rachel on the number below and we will do our best to help you through the process.

By unpacking the Sunday Gospels during Lent, Discalced Carmelite Friar, Fr Greg Homeming OCD,  looks at how we see and encounter Jesus Christ in our own lives. Fr Greg is a popular conference, spirituality and retreat speaker in Australia and overseas. Fr Greg's teaching is beautifully complimented by  Sr Hilda Scott OSB's (Vocations Director, Jamberoo Abbey) Spiritual Direction and Guided Meditation. Sr Hilda has a wonderful way of showing us God in the every day.

ENCOUNTER also includes thought provoking reflection questions perfect for group discussion as well as a sung Responsorial Psalm (see below) and an opening and closing prayer for each week.

Accompanying audio files are available for download for free at www.lent.dow.org.au. The audio files contain a weekly Responsorial Psalm composed by  Paul Mason and performed by nationally acclaimed soloist, Louise Symes  as well as audio versions of the Gospels and Gospel Reflections by Fr Greg, Spiritual Direction by Sr Hilda as well as (for the first time) Guided Meditation led by Sr Hilda (N.B. The Guided Meditation is only available on the audio files).

The whole is contained within the beautiful artwork of Nelson Colo Matoma who has painted six new watercolour expressionism artworks for the program.

As always, the cost of the program has been kept as low as possible (from $4.40) to ensure the resource can be made widely available to local communities.

Fwd: Please give to my Supporter page!

YMCA Swimathon this weekend at the Whitlam Centre, Liverpool!

"Coach, show us how it's done".

That's what I like to think is meant when they say: "Well YOU get in and do it!"

Finally a chance to encourage "coach" to get in the water.

Ante up to see if I will blow a gasket this Sunday.

All for a good cause. :-)

To give to my page, or to read more about why I'm doing what I'm doing, please visit:

Thanks in advance for your generosity on behalf of Liverpool Leatherjackets and the YMCA!

Fwd: Youth Ministry Consultation - Letter from Bishop

Dear Friends in Catholic Youth Ministry,

Bishop Peter Ingham has called for a consultation process to identify strengths, needs, and to consider how we can be more active in our ministry with young people across our Diocese.

A letter from Bishop Peter is attached which offers an overview of Catholic Youth Ministry as outlined in the National Vision and asks for your support in the process of the consultation.

A key component to the consultation is the online survey which we ask you to complete:  http://tinyurl.com/dowyouth

Please also encourage young people between the ages of 12-30 to complete the survey along with those involved in ministry with young people (e.g. involved parents, catechists, teachers, parish pastoral council members, youth group leaders, youth representatives at gatherings such as World Youth Day or Australian Catholic Youth Festival). The survey is particularly aimed at gathering information from those engaged in spiritual growth, those participating in the life and mission of the Church and those living as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world. Responses are due by Friday 28 February.

For further information contact the Diocesan Youth Office on 4222 2460 or youth@dow.org.au

Yours in Christ,

Richard McMahon

Director of Parish Services
Catholic Diocese of Wollongong
