Welcome to our October edition of the e-Faith and Life News. There are some special happenings this month which we list below. Please also be aware of: Jesus. All About Life Campaign An ecumenical initiative of the Bible Society supported by Catholics and other Christians. The TV ad can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-jGnTQDQj4 A guide to the program has been prepared by this office to assist people in understanding the program and enabling them to speak to others about our Catholic faith. A list of commonly asked questions to Catholics has been placed on our website. We are also holding regional evenings to assist any enquirers. (see below) JOIN THE CONVERSATION: WHY JESUS? Gatherings include supper and discussion. 7.30pm – 9.00pm. These diocesan evenings are being run in conjunction with the Jesus. All About Life Campaign. Advent Program: The Lord is Near This year's advent resource guide offers the complete Gospel text and reflection questions for each week of Advent. It also suggests Christmas gifts which go to supporting Catholic works and other charities. Prayers for the home are also included. It costs $1 per copy. See attached. Lenten Program: Do You Love Me? The 2010 Diocesan Lenten Program considers our call to serve and be served by Jesus Christ. Order forms will be available by November. YEAR OF ST LUKE E-CONFERENCE Following the success of the Year of Paul e-conference, the Broken Bay Institute has scheduled another e-conference for Wednesday 4 November. The theme is the Liturgical Year of Luke. You may be interested in connected in with this online event. See www.bbi.catholic.edu.au for details. SOCIAL JUSTICE STATEMENT The Australian Bishops' 2009 Statement is titled: 'And You Will Be My Witnesses'. During World Youth Day 2008, Australia saw thousands of young Christians inspired by the Holy Spirit. Yet many young people are marginalised, excluded and deprived of dignity. The Bishops recall the challenge of Pope Benedict – 'What will you leave to the next generation? What difference will you make?' – and present it again to all Australians, young and old. Young Men of God is an Australian movement of young Catholic men living life to the full. The 2009 Conference will feature dynamic talks, brotherhood, vibrant music and moving ministry sessions. "You Were Born For This" is specially designed to form and empower men to be everything God has destined them to be.
