"Put out into the Deep": The New Evangelization
The urgency of the "new evangelization" stems not only from the fact that the number of those not yet reached by the Gospel is immense, but also because entire groups of the Baptised are without a living relationship with Christ and His Church. The new evangelization is not a matter of inventing a new program. The program is the same as ever. What is needed is a proclamation of the Gospel that is "new in ardor, methods, and expression."
In the new evangelisation we must come to a deeper understanding of the mysteries of faith and find meaningful language with which to convey these mysteries to others. We must share with modern men and women the "unsearchable riches of Christ" and make known "the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in Christ". This is precisely what John Paul II's Theology of the Body provides.
